Dr Newstead trained at The Middlesex hospital in London and qualified in 1982. He has worked in Psychiatry and general practice and was the principal medical officer on the QE2 and other ships before settling in Jersey in 1999. He initially was working in Crahamel Medical Practice before it merged to form Island Medical Centre.
Jon retains an interest in psychiatry and occupational health and he is the approved doctor for the MCA (Maritime Coastguard Agency) and is the only doctor able to do merchant navy medicals in the Channel lslands (ENG1).
Jon has 4 aquatic teenage children and when not standing on a beach he enjoys clay pigeon shooting.
